Blog #5: Kanye West pt. 3: BULLY

MARCH 28, 2026

after months of waiting, i finally listened to BULLY. i guess the GOAT is officially back. no more cuckoldry. no more nazism. just peak. this is probably his best album since Donda. maybe even Yandhi. i'm not sure yet. KING is an incredible opener. the sample is really effective and there's a couple cool lines here like "The hero became the villain now" (sad but true!), and it ends with the insane "You know what season it is". chills. THIS IS A MUST continues the explosive nature of the opening. "Next to me, you n----s soda cans in the Grand Canyon". the songs are all pretty short mostly being around 2 minutes long, simimliar to Jesus Is King. it works here though. FATHER (featuring Travis Scott) is probably my favourite track from the album. it starts with a gospel sample, and then turns into peak. "Bye-bye to my old self / Wake up to the new me" the goat is so back. it also sampples the lines "Cause I look good, I smell good, I feel good / And you sing good, and make love good" which might just be applied to ye as well. ALL THE LOVE is pretty great as well. crazy how it was originally from CUCK. titled "GAS CHAMBERS". uh. glow up. it's peak chipmunk soul. like the good old days. this style of sample editing also continues on PUNCH DRUNK and WHATEVER WORKS. the latter also has the line "I feel like Arnold Schwarzenegger, contract terminator on the spot" which is very funny. MAMA'S FAVOURITE is quite personal. it has some screaming from Nine Vicious and the outro is a sample of Donda talking. quite a beautiful moment. SISTERS AND BROTHERS namedrops Genghis Khan so it's automatically peak. in the song he calls himself an antihero. accurate. BULLY (title track) opens with Nelson laughing. "I wanna beat somebody up / Like a bully". there's also a choir on this. it's quite peak. "They get mad at me for livin' out my fantasies". his beautiful dark twisted fantasies, perchance. HIGHS AND LOWS has the line "Highs and lows, highs and lows / I put you through a lot, I know" which is perfectly fitting after these past few years of nazism and the BULLY delays. I CAN'T WAIT has a verse written by the GOAT young moose so it's peak. WHITE LINES samples Stevie Wonders, i really like what he did with the audio here. good song. CIRCLES is probably the weakest track on here. it's just a sample with ye saying "Circles" and Don Toliver rapping a bit. PREACHER MAN allegedly still has AI vocals, which is a real shame if true. but after the first verse the chorus is incredible "Light 'em up, bеam me up / The only GOAT, the genius one". peak. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is another chipmunk soul track, it's quite good. DAMN. "Did I ruin your plans, plans, plans? / Well, that's the way I am" yes i have planned on listening to this album before it got delayed like 3 times. the song is great though. LAST BREATH is some odd Mexican piece of music. a bit odd but not necessarily bad. the final track, THIS ONE HERE, is really cool imo. produced by James Blake, so it's pretty peak. overall the album is great. Ye truly is back. i hope it only gets better from here!
